The Networked World: Big Data, Algorithms, and Personalization Online
From academic research to everyday life, our experiences are increasingly mediated through networked systems that gather our data and personalize our experiences. Join us for a critical look at where we’re at and where we’re going. We’ll cover:
- How we got here: Silicon Valley and surveillance capitalism
- Understanding how algorithmic personalization impacts our everyday experiences
- The impact of surveillance capitalism on our information ecosystems, including academic research, and on our ability to connect and organize with each other
- Ways to resist, retain privacy, and work toward a better networked world
Zoom information is provided after registering (see button below).
